The Hawaii State Department of Education is now accepting applications for five-year 21st Century Community Learning Centers grants from nonprofits, city or county government agencies, faith-based organizations, institutions of higher education and for-profit corporations.
The program establishes or expands community learning centers that provide students with academic enrichment opportunities along with activities designed to complement the students’ regular academic program. A consortium of two or more agencies, organizations or entities may apply. The DOE recommends that eligible agencies and organizations collaborate with schools that primarily serve students with a high concentration of economically disadvantaged students.
