Kanu and Red Cross team up to offer preparedness training

From Kanu Hawaii

Hurricane season starts June 1 and if you have been waiting for an opportunity to get prepared in case of emergency - now is the perfect time. Kanu Hawaii has teamed up with Hawaii Red Cross to offer free "Get Ready" Emergency Preparedness Workshops that help you prepare your family and neighborhood.

The hour-long workshop covers key information about when and where to evacuate, how to prepare a "go bag" and a "stay home" kit. In the spirit of "living aloha in our neighborhoods," there will also be a discussion of ways to help make your whole community safer. Click here for more information.

Scheduled workshops:

  • Thursday, June 23, 5:30 p.m. at Salt Lake-Moanalua Library, 3225 Salt Lake Blvd., Honolulu
  • Saturday, June 25, 10:30 a.m. at Kapolei Public Library, 1020 Manawai St., Kapolei
  • Tuesday, July 19, 6:30 p.m. at Kahuku Library, 56-490 Kamehameha Hwy., Kahuku

If you're interested in going one step further by volunteering to bring the workshop to your community, a "Training for Trainers" workshop will be offered from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on June 11 at the Manoa Innovation Center in Honolulu. Click here to RSVP.
