Program develops Asian and Pacific higher education leaders

The Leadership Development Program in Higher Education is an intensive four-day experience that enhances the professional development of Asian and Pacific Islanders and prepares college and university administrators, faculty and staff to move into leadership positions and to be more visible and influential on their campuses.

Created in 1997 and conducted by Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc. in partnership with Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education, the LDPHE is the only U.S. program that combines leadership training, a unique understanding of Asian and Pacific Islanders and personal coaching by successful API leaders in higher education.

The program features in-depth interactions between participants and program faculty, hands-on workshops, mentoring and interactive dialogues with API leaders to guide participants in developing their personal leadership career plans. The program also builds networks among participants, leading college and university presidents, faculty and senior administrators.

Past participants include professors, administrators and support staff from diverse disciplines including  vice presidents, deans, associate deans, faculty department chairs and program directors. Many of LDPHE’s 300-plus program participants have been promoted to advanced leadership roles in higher education.

Applications will be screened until class capacity is met. For more information or to register for this program, visit our website at http://www.leap.org/develop_ldphe.html or contact Grace Toy, (213) 485-1422 ext. 4117 or gtoy@leap.org.
