Plan ahead; register now for HANO’s June workshops

Following the 2007 HANO Conference on May 9, HANO's capacity-building program goes to Hilo on the Big Island of Hawai‘i on Friday, June 8, presenting “Creating a Culture of Engagement That Results in Major Gifts” at the Hospice of Hilo, Building B, 1011 Waianuenue Ave.

Nonprofits that focus solely on raising money often fail, while those that develop engagement at all levels – staff, volunteers and community – succeed.  This full-day workshop is designed for staff and volunteers of nonprofits seeking long-term organizational growth and sustainability.

Topics covered will include the relationship between organizational culture, resource development and fundraising, how to enhance engagement at all levels (staff, volunteers and community) to build a sustainable organization, and how to cultivate donors and create a major-strategic-gifts program.  Presenter is Monica Grant, vice president of Resource Development at the YMCA of Honolulu.  Click HERE for more information and to register.

“Budgeting Techniques for Nonprofits” is also coming up in June. This hands-one training is designed to help nonprofits deliver cost-effective programs and services through sound financial management and planning.

The presenter, Allen M. Arakaki, CPA, has geared this hands-on workshop to the needs of smaller nonprofit organizations that do not have a professional budget analyst. It is an introduction to budget preparation that will build the financial capacity and literacy of board members, staff and executive directors alike.

This popular workshop will be held on Friday, June 22, at the Honolulu Community College's Pacific Center for Advanced Technology Training, 874 Dillingham Blvd Honolulu, where each participant will be able to use a computer to complete a sample budget using Microsoft Excel. Seating at this workshop is limited, so sign up early.
