Kids Hurt Too to hold open house on May 14

Nonprofit Kids Hurt Too will host an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, at the Kukui Center, 245 North Kukui St., Honolulu. Visitors will be able to visit six programs co-located in the building, learn about services and expand their networks of resources. New programs offered at the Kukui Center include:

  1. Peer support group for children impacted by the death of someone close
  2. Peer support group for children impacted by suicide
  3. Peer support group for children impacted by parent separation due to divorce, incarceration, etc.
  4. Monthly peer support groups for foster children and families
  5. Computer skills classes for k-12 and adults
  6. Mentoring programs that include: Poi for the Soul, monthly visits to a taro field; Surf for the Soul, free surf lessons, water safety instruction and protecting the ocean; Seeds of Love, learning to cultivate and recognize native plants, herbs and flowers; Junior Special FBI Agent and art classes, which start in June 2009; and healthy and safe lifestyles video productions.

Free parking is available at the Republic Parking lot on the corner of Beretania and Aala streets with the entrance on Aala Street.
