The Fieldstone Alliance, Minnesota nonprofit consultants, has assembled a collection of resources for nonprofit organizations struggling to survive in tough economic times and presented them in the latest edition of their Nonprofit Tools You Can Use.
Old strategies, such as fundraisers, are unlikely to be sufficient. Rather, says Principal Consultant Sandy Jacobsen, “Nonprofits will need to find previously unimagined ways to meet mission goals.” They will likely need to implement at least three of four strategic categories, she says: increasing revenues, decreasing expenses, reviewing structural strategies such as the mission, culture or internal structure, and participating in engagement strategies such as collaborations.
Jacobsen’s article includes links to articles, web pages and books that are available on the Fieldstone Alliance web site that explore each of these strategies in detail, helping organizations to create a successful package of strategies.
