Apply by May 18 for FEMA food and shelter funds

Applications are now being accepted for the 2010 Emergency Food and Shelter Program, a federal program funded through FEMA. For 2010, Oahu will receive $266,713 to be awarded by a local board using a competitive application process. The $266,713 is for use on Oahu -- neighbor islands each have their own funding, for which agencies can apply through their local Island United Way affiliate.

The Oahu board will fund proposals in three categories: Rent & Mortgage Assistance; Mass Shelter; and Other Food. To obtain an application packet, contact Norm Baker, norm@auw.org or (808) 543-2202.

Applications must be received – not postmarked – by AUW by 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18. Late applications will not be considered. For answers to questions or more information contact Baker. This program is different from AUW’s Emergency and Crisis Services Impact Funding, applications for which are due May 14. The proximity of the application deadlines could cause confusion.
