Another Hawaii private school to close in June

Holy Trinity School will close in June, at the end of the school year, after 50 years in business, a victim of declining enrollment exacerbated by the economic recession. The school has about 70 students and about a dozen staff and teachers.

Last month, Word of Life Academy, a 250-student Christian school in Kakaako, announced it would close June 4 after 17 years in business. The school for students from preschool through high school at 550 Queen St. could not withstand the economic downturn despite significant investment in the school, according to Headmaster Royce Tanouye.
