Hawaii Public Radio pledge drive hits goal a day early

Despite the lingering recession, nonprofit Hawaii Public Radio finished its spring pledge drive a day early, on Thursday, April 22, raising $786,610 in nine days and surpassing its goal of $785,000. The contributions will support station programming for the next six months.

“We are thoroughly delighted at this amazing outpouring of support for our public radio service,” President and General Manager Michael Titterton said. “We have always described our service as community-building, and this is enthusiastic proof that our listeners want to keep this service on track and on the air.”

KHPR 88.1 FM broadcasts classical music and fine arts to the Neighbor Islands via repeater stations KANO 91.1 and KKUA 90.7 FM. Sister station KIPO 89.3 FM is a news and information, public affairs, and jazz, blues and Hawaiian music station.
