Family Programs Hawaii and It Takes and Ohana will present “Best of both worlds: Resource & birth families working together for children,” the 2011 foster care conference at five locations across the state in June.
The featured speaker at the free gatherings is Norma Ginther, a resource caregiver, social worker and nationally known consultant, who will provide information on why the involvement of resource families with birth families is critical for the child and for both families.
The training will also enhance the skills of resource caregivers in engaging birth families, managing conflict, diffusing issues, developing strategies of support, and expediting permanency for children.
