
Updated Hawai'i State Data Book 2006 now available online
The Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism on Aug. 15 posted the 39th annual edition of the State of Hawai‘i Data Book online. The 24-section book includes a spectrum Hawaii demographic, social and economic data useful for policy making, business planning and research. It contains 790 tables with revealing facts, such as:
- In 2006, the number of Hawaii cell phone subscribers broke 1 million for the first time.
- From 2004 to 2006, the number of Hawaii electricity customers increased 3 percent from 391,567 to 403,278
- Average electricity consumption in that period decreased by 2.2 percent from 8,061 kwh to 7,887 kwh.
- The fastest growing neighborhood on Oahu was Mililani Mauka-Launani, where the estimated population grew 45 percent from 2000 to 2005.
- Statewide assessed real property value was $255 billion in fiscal year 2007 – an increase of 27.8 percent in one year.
