The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau is encouraging visitor groups to participate in local volunteer service projects tied to sustainability and “green” efforts. With this program visitors can leave both their money and their acts of kindness, but they will leave feeling good about their efforts. The HVCB says there are many groups that would like to offer opportunities for their members.
“Hawaii’s world-class facilities, strategic geographic location, natural beauty and aloha spirit make us a one-of-a-kind destination and an ideal place to conduct business,” said Mike McCartney, president and CEO of the Hawaii Tourism Authority, in a statement.
“HVCB’s new Corporate Social Responsibility program is an excellent opportunity to connect Hawaii nonprofit agencies with business and meeting planners who are looking for volunteer opportunities to give back to the community during their stay, benefiting both our Hawaiian Islands and our visitors, who will return home with a memorable and rewarding experience,” he said.
Groups wanting such an experience will be able to choose from what the HVCB calls a variety of volunteer opportunities.
