Learn to successfully compete
for foundation funding

HANO offers specialized training in grant-seeking, "Proposal Writing: An Interactive Exploration of Grant-Seeking from Hawaii’s Trusts and Foundations," an introductory, hands-on, interactive workshop for local 501(c)(3) organizations seeking grants.  This workshop will:

  • Introduce you to basic techniques in researching grants
  • Enhance your skill in proposal writing for foundation funding
  • Give you hands-on experience in preparing and reviewing a proposal

Attendees will learn the history of foundations in Hawaii and current local and national trends in philanthropy.  They will explore strategies for finding the best fit with funders, discover how to put together a proposal package and examine criteria funders use to evaluate proposals.

Presenters are Lily Bloom Domingo, chief operating officer and director of Training and Consulting Services and Jennifer Cornish Creed, HANO training specialist, who have designed and conducted dozens of workshops in board governance and outcomes design and provided consulting services to numerous nonprofit and government agencies in strategic planning and outcomes implementation.

  • When and where: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19 (registration opens at 8:30 a.m.) at the Honolulu Community Action Program, One South King Building, 33 South King St., Suite 300, Honolulu
  • What’s included:  Workshop materials, morning refreshments and lunch
  • Cost: $100 for HANO members and Aloha United Way partner agencies; $160 for non-members
