Workshops help nonprofits prepare Living
Hawaiian Culture Program proposals

The Hawaii Tourism Authority and the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement are offering orientation and training workshops for the HTA Living Hawaiian Culture Program, which provides funding support to eligible organizations with projects that strengthen, support and nurture the Hawaiian culture and community.

A series of free, statewide workshops to help organizations develop program and funding proposals will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Hilo, Hawai‘i, Sept. 17, Hilo Hawaiian Hotel
  • Kona, Hawai‘i, Sept. 18, King Kamehameha Kona Hotel
  • Honolulu, Oahu, Sept. 21, Honolulu Airport Hotel
  • Wailea, Maui, Sept. 24, Diamond Hawaii Resort & Spa
  • Lihue, Kauai, Sept. 26, Aloha Beach Hotel

The deadline for proposals is Nov. 1 for funding projects during the 2008 project period, Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2008. Grants will range from $5,000 to $100,000 and a total of $850,000 is available. In 2007, there were 19 awards made totaling $522,150.
