HANO AGENDA, OCTOBER 2010

President's Message:

HANO membership
offers more and more

Registrations are steadily arriving for the First Annual Conference of Nonprofit Communities in Hawaii, presented by HANO, the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Aloha Chapter and Chaminade University.

The conference expo will be packed with time and money-saving products and services tailored for nonprofit operations. Organizations interested in being sponsors or exhibitors please click here.

Thinking of joining HANO but just haven't gotten around to it? Any nonprofit that joins HANO by Nov. 8 will get a 20 percent discount on new-member dues. Call Sally Ley, (808) 529-0455, and take advantage!

We’re proud to announce our newest member-benefit partner, Unemployment Services Trust. Any nonprofit with 10 or more employees should consider opting out of the state's unemployment insurance trust fund to avoid soaring unemployment taxes. Click here for more info.

In partnership with JobTarget, HANO is launching a new-and-improved Job Bank to do a better job of connecting nonprofit employers with qualified candidates. The new HANO Job Bank also features job broadcasting, company profiles and logos and a pay-per-use resume bank. Click here for more details.

Finally, here’s a last-minute warning to small nonprofits still in danger of losing their nonprofit status:  Please heed the Internal Revenue Service’s Oct. 15 deadline to file. Not sure if you are on the list? Click here to find out. Please help get the word out – 1,700 Hawaii nonprofits could lose their tax-exempt status and find a big headache.

Our newsletter is chock full of news.  Please enjoy.
