The opening ceremony of the 9th Annual Native Hawaiian Convention begins with a traditional oli session with kumu Leina`ala Kalama Heine of Na Pualei o Likolehua. The welcoming address will be presented by Maile Meyer, Native Books/Na Mea Hawaii, and Michael Nahoopii, Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission. It will be at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu.
