Kona Community Hospital must cut $1.1 million from its budget this year, but hospital officials don't expect to have to reduce staffing levels.
West Hawaii Today reported that the order for the budget cut came in mid-September, after the governor's office ordered Hawaii Health Systems Corp. to cut payroll costs by 5 percent.
The newspaper said Kona Community Hospital CEO Jay Kreuzer says the hospital plans to run as efficiently as possible to deal with the budget cut.
