Conference to help nonprofits and churches collaborate

The organization Together-Strengthening Our Community Services or T-SOCS, is presenting a joint conference, “A Partnership of Compassion for the Community,” bringing together nonprofit and faith-based organizations from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, at Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay, 45-815 Po‘okela St., Kaneohe.

Organizers have planned the all-day session to help community leaders understand how collaboration with faith-based groups can help them achieve their outcomes, to develop new partnerships by networking with others that share their mission, to introduce the services they provide to the faith-based community and to achieve their vision by increasing their volunteer base.

It will also help pastors and church leaders to understand how a relationship with community agencies can help them achieve their mission, learn what community services are available and how to access them, strengthen their own outreach ministry and services, network with others that share their vision and identify community needs and resources. Topics include:

  • Foster care and adoption
  • Children and youth needs
  • Domestic violence and child abuse
  • Acculturation for foreign-born residents
  • Financial independence and stability
  • Homeless and permanent housing
  • Drug and alcohol addiction rehabilitation
  • Re-entry programs for former inmates
  • Emergency preparedness and disaster response
  • Elder care

The conference is free and refreshments and lunch will be served. Click here to register online. For more information contact Frances Ellen, (808) 371-1686 or info@tsocs.org.
