Children and Youth Summit to set 2009 agenda

The Hawai‘i Legislature’s Keiki Caucus has invited advocates, professionals, parents, students, policymakers and anyone interested in improving the well being of Hawaii’s children and youth to attend its Children and Youth Summit – “I Believe.”

Part I of the summit will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the State Capitol Auditorium.  Part II will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the State Capitol. The purpose is to develop a consensus on priority issues for children and youth for the upcoming 2009 Session. Organizers note that anticipated revenue shortfalls will require wise investments in children, youth and families. The caucus will hold follow-up meetings to refine proposals and develop strategies.

Because space and seating is limited and refreshments will be provided, attendees are requested to RSVP to Keiki Caucus co-conveners Senator Suzanne Chun Oakland, (808) 586-6130, or Representative John Mizuno, (808) 586-6050.
