The Primary Project that began last fall drove a vital message: you have the right to advocate for nonprofit issues. It started with one very important primary and we learned fast, just in time to cover enormous ground this fall. The Primary Project is expanding to its next phase—Elections 2008: Raise the Nonprofit Profile. Learn more and join us with tools including legal guidelines, advocacy ideas, resources, how to guides, and many others.
Recently, HANO members received an important alert about the GIVE Act, a piece of legislation that would eliminate the unfair tax on volunteers and help mitigate the effects of sky high gas prices on nonprofits and their work. If you haven’t been able to take action yet, we encourage you to send a letter to Congress today!
All you have to do is go to the Nonprofit Congress website, edit the sample letter text if you wish, and then send it along to your members of Congress. If you’ve already sent your letter, please consider sending a letter to the editor of your local paper to let your community know about this important issue.
Volunteers are too important to be treated as second-class citizens. Please take action today! You can find much more information about the bill, the real nonprofits affected by it, and much more on our website.
The Nonprofit Voter Engagement Network (NVEN) has been producing high-quality toolkits and resources to help nonprofits in this election season. They have toolkits in both English and Spanish, “Register to Vote HERE” posters, t-shirts, buttons, checklists, and more to aid in your efforts. Check out their website for the latest resources throughout the fall.
