Honolulu is among the top 10 cities in the United States to find a job, according to U.S. News Media Group’s first annual listing of “America’s Best Places to Find a Job.” The 10 best cities to find a job this year, listed alphabetically, are: Anchorage, Alaska; Arlington, Va.; Columbus, Ohio; Honolulu; Houston, Tx; Oklahoma City, Ok; Salt Lake City, Ut; Shreveport, La.; Tallahassee, Fla.; and Wichita, Kan.
U.S. News editors assessed factors such as unemployment rates, job growth and career opportunities in a broad spectrum of industries in 2,000 cities. The cities on the list each have lower-than-average unemployment rates, proven job growth since 2000 and local economies that have remained steady during the recession.
According to the report, in Honolulu the most in-demand jobs over the next 10 years are expected to be in retail, higher education and nursing.
