The State Legislature presents Children & Youth Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, on the State Capitol grounds and surrounding area to kick off a month-long series of events marking the annual Children & Youth Month in Hawaii. Senator Suzanne Chun-Oakland and Rep. John Mizuno are coordinating this year’s event.
The Oct. 2 kickoff features, rides, exhibitor booths, games, prizes and giveaways, goodie bags for keiki, food available to purchase, a green zone for recycling, contests and more. The event is open to children and families to attend for free, but there is a fee for organizations to participate with a booth.

Last year, an estimated 40,000 people attended and some 3,000 volunteers participated. For organizations wishing to have a booth at the event, the fee to exhibit is $125 after Aug. 31, which includes a 10 by 10 foot booth area, an 8-foot table, two chairs and electricity, if needed.
The event will be advertised on radio, in the newspaper and through flyers and notices sent by nonprofit partners and the Department of Education. Exhibitors can pay registration fees online using a credit card or request a waiver of the registration fee.
A meeting for participants and exhibitors will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9 in State Capitol, Room 329. An event walk-through is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26 at the State Capitol Rotunda. Click here for more information.
