Erwin Hudelist, president of Honolulu-based Hagadone Printing Co., has created a nonprofit organization that focuses on sustainability. The Sustainability Association of Hawaii has elected its first board and has started planning activities. The group said it plans to foster ideas and implement solutions to conserve, protect and recycle resources while promoting sustainability in Hawaii. An avid proponent of sustainability, Hudelist has also launched initiatives such as four-day work weeks and paper recycling programs at Hagadone.
Hudelist is board president of the organization and said the group plans to offer educational seminars and evaluate members’ businesses in regard to waste reduction and sustainability efforts. ”Global and local realities have raised the stakes for sustainability,” Hudelist said. “Clearly, now is the time for action and we all must be part of the solution. SAH will be a powerful resource that benefits all of Hawaii and the generations to come.”
