Akiemi Glenn is the Nonprofit Resources Director at HANO, where she leads efforts to strengthen the sustainability and impact of Hawaiʻi’s nonprofit sector. Her work focuses on helping organizations navigate complexity, build capacity, and respond to evolving community needs across the islands.

Akiemi joins HANO with more than two decades of experience across community-based nonprofits, arts and cultural organizations, research initiatives, and advocacy efforts in Hawaiʻi and beyond. She is the founder of the Pōpolo Project, a Hawaiʻi-based nonprofit dedicated to uplifting Black community in Hawaiʻi through storytelling, public art, and community-centered archives, and a co-founder of Hawaiʻi Strategy Lab, which advances culturally grounded equity-centered research and data access in service of social justice.

Akiemi brings a systems-level understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Hawaiʻi’s nonprofit sector along with deep expertise in community engagement, cultural strategy, and nonprofit leadership rooted in place, relationship, and care.
