Melissa Miyashiro

President and CEO

Melissa Miyashiro is President & CEO at HANO and has devoted her career to uplifting purpose-driven, people-focused solutions to humanity’s most pressing challenges. Prior to HANO, Melissa held several positions, including Executive Director, at Blue Planet Foundation—a nonprofit focused on advancing climate change solutions through advocacy and community engagement. She received a law degree from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, and bachelor of science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Denver. 

Melissa has also worked as a litigator in private practice and as a post-graduate legal fellow assisting state agencies in Hawai‘i with invasive species policy and inter-agency coordination. She has authored papers on climate justice and taught persuasive writing and legislative advocacy at Hawai‘i’s law school. Melissa serves as a board member for Volunteer Legal Services Hawai‘i (VLSH) and Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE). She is also a proud graduate of Cohort I of the HANO Fellows program.
