HGSS Program
HANO GRANT SUPPORT SERVICES (HGSS)
We know that financial sustainability is top of mind for many nonprofits in this time of extraordinary uncertainty. To meet this moment, HANO is relaunching its grant support services for nonprofits.
The HANO Grant Support Services (HGSS) program builds upon previous iterations of our grant support services to help nonprofits access private foundation and corporate philanthropic funding and, on a case-by-case basis, federal funding. Over the last four years, HANO has supported 46 organizations to bring in over $25 million in federal funding, and 20 organizations to bring in over $1.9 million in private philanthropy funding to support our Hawaiʻi communities.

Why HGSS?
Many nonprofits have limited time and capacity for the proposal writing and grants management tasks required to secure funding to carry out critical mission work. Especially with tightening budgets, organizations often don’t have fund development staff or unrestricted funds to hire professional proposal writers or evaluators to assist them with these functions.
Services Provided
Through HGSS, technical assistance services will be provided via a pool of providers experienced in working with nonprofits. Depending on the funding source being pursued, participating organizations could access grant writing support, coaching, application review, copy editing, and/or submission support services, as well as referrals to connect separately with other services that may be needed outside the program scope.
Eligibility & Pricing
This program is open to Hawaiʻi nonprofits who are interested in applying for grants from trust, foundation, corporate philanthropic, and government funding sources to support their missions. Eligible applicants are encouraged to already have a specific funding source and project in mind before they apply.
HANO Members: $100 per project
Non-Members: $200 per project
The amounts and frequency of services are contingent on the availability of resources and number of applicants being considered for support.
